There is a very strong desire for many Americans to look and feel younger. People spend thousands of dollars trying to look the way they wish. Many people achieve this by spending money on cosmetic surgery. This is the new fad in America. Another stunning fact is that “the average age for patients(drugweek 1)’ has shown an increase. This is very interesting to see that even the older generations are interested in this procedure.
These facts definitely indicate that everyone has the desire to look and feel younger. It was surprising for me to see how many Americans have these procedures done. These procedure are not free, but they are worth it to the people that “ the baby boomers are likely to be the driving force(drugweek 1)’ behind these procedures. That is interesting to note because they have a large disposable income to get these procedures done.
Many people are very self conscious on how they look. Too many Americans want to look like movie stars. There is a large desire for these people to look even younger than they really are. No one wants to be natural. It seems as if having these surgeries definitely puts people at risk for more health problems later in life. This is the price the people pay to look the way they want to.
Another interesting fact is that there is a “13.7% increase in the percentage of men(drugweek1)” having these procedures done. This fact really startled me because I thought that mostly women used these procedures, and I was wrong. Everyone has a desire to look youthful and men are a part of this.
I think that people worry too much about the way they look. All these surgeries are not necessary. As people we need to understand the fact that people will like you no matter how you look. The way in which America learns many of it traditions and history is by hearing a story. This has been the tradition since the beginning of the United States. Television is full of stories. It was reported that “narrative and genre(Hoppensatd 1)” are an important part of our culture. These elements are also an important part of telling a story. This is the way that us Americans learn. Through hearing the story we gain a lot of insight. As citizens of this country we truly enjoy hearing these stories.
I believe that this is a very good article because it truly gave the reader something to think about. The article went on to explain different types of storytelling. It was also stated that as Americans we truly enjoy these stories. These stories are what guides us through our lives. The article truly gave me something to think about. There is no doubt that with our busy lives we truly forget how important stories are.

A new wave problems is from texting and driving. There is no doubt that cell phones are here to stay, and with it people text. Texting was reported as being so dangerous in Virginia that lawmakers “want to outlaw the practice(Techweb 1).” This really makes sense though. How can you type and control a vehicle at the same time. This is not safe.
It was reported that talking and driving a vehicle ‘is often frowned upon(techweb 10.” There is no doubt that these people mean business. It is strange to see that as technology advances there are still problems that occur. The only thing that is for sure is that you must be careful. You must be aware at all times what is going on. I do not blame these people for not wanting cell phone use while driving there are obvious dangers, and law enforcement people do not want to take risks.
The law enforcement personnel recommended the use of “hands-free phone devices(Techweb 10.” This is the only thing that is safe while driving. The law enforcement personnel are just trying to keep the roads safe. I do not blame them for worrying about the citizens of this country. There is a definite connection between cell phone use and accidents on the roadways.
The article made it clear that cell phone use slows down reaction time. This affects the ability of the driver to safely maneuver the vehicle. If you can ot properly operate your vehicle then it is time to hang up the cell phone.

There is no doubt that the world has changed due to the death of Michael Jackson. Not only are there children without a father, but the world has lost a great performer. Michael was an extremly talented singer. People all over the world knew Michael.
Many people enjoyed his music. People would listen to his music with their friends. Everyone knew who the singer was. Friends had something to talk about as they listened to his music. The man traveled around the world singing and dancing. Michael was a very legendary icon. The man made himself famous due to his singing and dancing.
Michael is definitely an important figure for many music lovers. People woukld buy his music and go to his concerts. America will not be the same without Michael. he is a figure that many people idolized. There is no doubt that americans had an obsession with Michael Jackson. Everyone just loved to hear the man perform.
As legendary as Michael was to the woprld he had his problems. Several years back Michael got in trouble with a young boy. There is no doubt Michael had some problems. Boys Learning to Dance
I read an article that was about boys learning to dance. The boys are learning "hip hop, breakdancing and tap (McKenzie 1)." The studio was very surprised to see how many boys were interested in learning how to DanceThis is a new fad that really caught on. Children are beginning to have a better understanding of music and dance. I believe that this is a great way to enrih the children's livers. It shocked me to think tht young boys would enjoy dance class. It is important for these children to have a better understanding of pop culture.
It was proven that "5 percent(McKenzie 1)." of children learning to dance are boys. This is unusual because when I was in School I did not dance. I believe it is important to teach boys about pop culture. This gives them the opportunity to expand their culture. They are able to get an understanding of pop culture at a young age. I believe that it is important for children to listen to music

It is important to expose children to as much pop culture as possible. This exposure helps them express themselves. Pop culture is something that will help them better understand the world as adults. Icons
The three icons that I chose for this assingment are Barrack Obama, Jerry Seinfeld and Scooby Doo. The icons that chose are something that everyone knows about. President Obama was a good choice because he makes everyone hopeful for a better future. People have a lot of faith in the President and they can uidentify with him. I believe he can improve the quality of life for us. Faith in our government is something the President is trying to instill in us..
The second icon I chose was Jerry Seinfeld. I chose this because I believe it is important for everyone to laugh once in a while. They may be right when they say laughter is the best medicine. People do not always need to be so serious. Lauighter can help pweople forget about their problems. Jerry has made a large influence on television. People truly enjoy his program.
The third Icon I chose was Scopoby Doo. I chose this Icomn because Scooby makes me think about the times when I was a child. Everyone has watched this show and they can relate to the characters. Scooby Doo is a character that children have love for many generations.
These Icons are all well known. When you hear the name you can relate to the person telling the story. As much as television has changed Seinfeld and Scooby Doo are still famous Icons. I chose the President because I believe he makes people think about a better tommorow. These Icons make us citizens feel loyal to our favorite people

I read an article which went into detail about a very important popular culture topic which is reality shows. Now the shows have been showing up for quite sometime on all the networks. what makes these shows seem interesting is that they seem real and somea re true stories.
The article i read was about wife swap. it went into detail on how hard it is for woemn to switch spots. These woen have to take on different roles. I never watch these shows and it makes me wonder what these shows have that keep people watching these shows. There is no doubt that television is changing. People are watching programming that was never thought of ten years ago. Television hastotally changed the programs that they show to the public.
It is amazing to see the way television is evolving. The people that write shows are changhing the programming that they offer. I believe that this is good because it makes television so much more interesting. Many of the shows that I watched growing up are no longer around. The funny thing about these new programs is that everyone just loves them.
